13-year old sues her jr. high and shows you are never too young to be an idiot

13-year old Horace Mann Junior High School student, Daun’ne Land, is suing the Los Angeles Unified School district because she doesn’t want to wear a uniform to school as is the school’s policy. The policy is aimed at keeping students from wearing gang colors, quite a problem in the South LA area that the junior high school is located. She wants to wear pink and says that she does not care about the rules. She says that school officials have been harassing her because she refuses to conform.

The money spent defending this lawsuit is money that will not be going into the classroom. Also in case you are wondering if the “gang” justification is legitimate, the junior high school is located just 7/10ths of a mile from the intersection of Florence and Normandy–the epicenter of the Los Angeles riots.

It is not surprising that a 13-year old girl does not want to follow rules. But her parent(s) presumably allowed and helped her file the suit and an adult lawyer is representing her. That is amazing.and disgusting.

Prediction: this is not a young lady that is going to do well later in life and, personal responsibility aside, this time I can say that it won’t all be her fault.
