Killer Teen’s Downward Spiral Caught on Camera
Scott Dyleski’s transformation from 2003 to 2005:

This is a partial re-post. For some reason (probably user error) the previous and far more complete posting on Scott Dyleski was over-ridden by a nearly blank posting. I’m going from memory.
First off, the third picture is really from this year’s yearbook even though it looks like a someone just photoshopped long hair onto a previous photo. Alternatively, if you called central casting and said you needed a brooding, troubled youth–this is what they’d send.
Scott Dyleski has been charged as an adult and is held on $1 million bond (which seems kind of cheap to me given the charge).
There are a few sites posting unintelligible conspiracy theories that I won’t even bother linking to. If anyone is going to create baseless tales of tangled conspiracies it’s going to be us or no one. Since Scott looks so much like someone who’d do this the conspiracy theorists are surely thinking that the cops are doing a rush to judgement, the same way that they did with OJ Simpson and Scott Peterson (both of which have large groups of people who still consider them innocent).
The Dark Side delves into Scott’s behavior since the accidental death of his sister a few years ago and for the uninitiated points us to the Wiki definition of Goth.
While this probably won’t even register on him, a blogger called Totem for the Temple has named him Anti-Christ for the Week–an honor previously held by Barry Bonds.

OK, here’s the headline that’s got me going:Teenage Suspect in Vitale Murder Reportedly a Satanist The teenager arrested in the slaying of a prominent defense attorney’s wife once drew a pentagram on the ground at school and told other students

I, unlike most of the population I have discussed this with have not determined if Scott committed this crime or not. There are several things that trouble me, in reference to the media’s portrayal. First of all, the gothic scene is automatically associated with evil. This is simply because our main stream society does not completely understand it. There are several things that are not being brought up about this young man. The simple fact that he is vegan says a lot about his character. Vegan’s are typically for animal rights, thus who would kill a human if they wont drink cow’s milk or butter? Vegans are sympathetic people on all levels. The fact that Scott listened to music associated with the “dark side” really is not influential to me…other than that was his taste. If he was as sad and depressed as many 16 year old men are, that would account for the taste in music. The marilyn Manson/black trench coat reference I will not even address because it is so reduntant in these situations it turns my stomach as soon as it leaves someones lips. As for the strange penetagram symbol he wrote in people’s yearbooks, that is nothing more than the emblem of a rock band most commonly called the “heartagram” and associated with Bam Mangera from MTV. People are so judgmental, and jump on splochly information every chance they get. If Scott did this, I truely hope that he pays for his crime…however we as a society are doing exactly what he wasn’t striving to not be like. In short ….we suck and we need to be more informed and use our intellegence.

I don’t think Scott was arrested because he dresses like a goth so there is evidence pointing to him for the crime. Presumably something to do with the stolen credit cards. We’ll have to wait for the details. That said, whether or not he killed someone (and I’ll bet he did and we shall know more soon), he is certainly acting out. Since his mom is sitting in a jail cell nearby also gives us a tip that his home life was a little off center.
As for us (Independent Sources) being part of the problem, our motivation is simple. We don’t like killers whether they are goths, ex-football players or pretty boy fertilizer salesmen. It’s not the type of person that we have problems with but what they do. Look at our coverage of Holly Ashcraft–hardly a trenchcoat wearing moody teen but a suspected killer nonetheless.
