Today's L A Times has a table of average home runs per game since 1969 ... used to be about 1.6 but every year since 1994 its over 2.0, several years above 2.2. There was a big step up '93-'94 and another about five years later. Expansion ... or juice?

McCain never met a camera he didn't love. In addition to the the above mentioned dog and pony shows, he also wants to waste taxpayer money on a Government agency that would regulate boxing. Way to prioritize, Senator. Bring Washington to a halt with your "No Middleweight Left Behind Act".

I've fired off some pretty scathing letters to The Houston Chronicle about my feelings on this issue(everone printed and in the Jammy archives) and have put up several posts on thejammy.blogspot.com regarding my feelings on this issue....I'm the LAST person that's givin' 'em a "pass". Az a matter of fact, my bottom-line opinion on it iz that all violators should be banned from the game for life (ONE violation) and records striken from the books...Notta realistic solution on the "records" part tho' cuz then you'd hafta change all the pitchers' ERA's and God-knowz what else...1 bogus dinger during a season could change who winz the phuckin' World Series ferchrissake..It IZ about the sanctity of the game and statistics in baseball have alwayz been the engine that drives it....LEGIT stats....Thanx fer yer time.

Sincerely,

Ty Rade

You guys all seem to be giving a pass to the players. Real records are going to the wayside while juiced up cheaters pound away. Because they do, others cheat to keep up, high schoolers do as well, etc. Then they sanctimoniously whine about how clean they are and the media is picking on them. Bonds, Palmiro, Sosa, McGwire, etc., are a joke with the only thing funnier being their union who claims to be against cheating on one hand but against any meaningful testing/punishment on the other.

McCain is a camera-mugging boob. There's no glamour in fighting for fiscal restraint. You want airtime? Subpoena some athletes. When that blows over, go after Hollywood. Get some movie stars before your committee. Soundbite city.

Question for Senator McCain: With the biggest deficits in the history of Mankind and with healthy young Americans being maimed in Iraq, how do you find the time to worry about what's in a ballplayers urine? Don't you get it? Don't you get it?

I agree on Bonds. I figured he'd retire rather than try to play off of the juice. How about Palmiro? Now there's a real piece of work.
