Surface to Air “Irregularity” Fired at Flight 17, Not!
Was a missile fired at Flight 17 as it left JFK? One would think that it is a simple question that would get a “yes” or “no” answer. Think again.
When asked by blogger Michele Malkin, American West responded to the question confirming an “irregularity” on the flight. To me an in-flight “irregularity” is someone is sitting in your seat or a bad pre-boarding taco but certainly not a SAM zipping past your window.
If they are trying to calm us down, it isn’t working! One thing for sure, the conspiracy theorists are going to be having a field day on this.

Update: FAA confirms that it was a false alarm. It was a real enough concern that it did effect some flight patterns however after checking radar files it was determined to be birds. (How does anyone confuse a bird and a surface-to-air missile? Even though this non-story has gotten far more ink than it deserves I am a little curious who made the first report. Please no emails on how many planes are brought down by birds and yes I know that they are dangerous but unless you want to tell me that al-Qaeda is now training birds to fly into engines I say we let this thing die right here and now.)
