Los Angeles Times on Latest LA Terror Threat: It’s Local News, Let the TV Guys Cover It
In the Los Angeles Times this morning, you have to get to the back page of the first section (A24) to read this bit of news that might be of interest to the residents of Southern California:
L.A., Melbourne Targeted in Purported Al Qaeda Tape
WASHINGTON — A suspected new Al Qaeda videotape that singles out two cities — including Los Angeles — as likely targets for terrorist attacks surfaced over the weekend, a dose of chilling propaganda apparently timed to coincide with the fourth anniversary of Sept. 11.
This is 18 pages after a wire service story about typhoons in China.
The Age, Melbourne’s daily paper, placed the terror threat story below the fold — on page 1. And they have two other related stories today (Tuesday in Australia).
This may not be page one material — the source of the threat has made similar statements before. But it’s not a page 24 story either.

Maybe the LA Times should spice up the news a bit to make it page one material…. by doctoring a picture of an American soldier so that his rifle pointed at a couple civilians including a child.
