Early Critique of New Barbara Boxer Novel: She Should Stick To Annoying PR Stunts
From the Sacramento Bee’s “The Buzz” column, which got an advance look at Barbara Boxer’s forthcoming novel, “A Time To Run”:
The Buzz is prohibited from quoting directly from the uncorrected proof of the new book distributed for reviewing purposes. Suffice it to say this effort reads more like a cross between a bad romance novel and a soap opera script. The Congressional Record might be more entertaining. And it’s free.
We’re not surprised. According to Amazon, the American Library Association’s Booklist said that her previous, non-fiction effort, “Strangers in the Senate,” was “mediocre;” “Boxer’s name … somewhat compensates for this tract’s insipidity, which is no better expressed than any press release pablum.”
We expect that means it will sell well in West L.A. Does bad book + Barbara Boxer = movie deal?
