Stationed in Iraq but Still Funny as Hell

Oddly enough I found this web journal indirectly from the dim blubs at Blue Flypaper. It’s called Odyssey and is the journal of an active guard reserve soldier in Iraq. While unabashedly right-wing, the writing style is humorous and insightful. Here are some excerpts:

Sean Penn and Oprah have gone to New Orleans.  First a hurricane, now celebrities.  Haven’t those poor people suffered enough?

Okay, remember when I said that reflexive hatred of President Bush was making the Democratic Party irrelevent?  Well, Sen Mary Landrieu (D-OLT) has proved me right by threatening to punch the president.  Making any threat against the president is a felony, and it’s only the fact that nobody takes it seriously that has kept her out of jail.  I don’t know which is worse, her threatening the president or the realization that she’s too much of a moonbat to worry about.  It’s sort of a Catch-22.  If she weren’t a flake, she’d be considered a threat, but nobody but a flake would make the threat.  This is a US Senator?

Al Sharpton has taken a detour on his route home from Crawford, TX, to provide spiritual guidance to the New Orleans refugees.  By comparison, Sean Penn may seem like a blessing.

These people [Dems]are unhinged.  I don’t mean that in a hyperbolic, exaggerated, humerous way.  I’m speaking literally.  These people are so consumed by rage that they are unable to form coherent thoughts.  Their reaction to every stimulous is a spasm of hatred for Bush, Republicans, the US military and anyone who doesn’t have a “Bush lied, People Died” bumper sticker.  The national debate has been reduced to a lite beer commercial, except that the “less filling” partisans want the “tastes great” crowd impeached, disemboweled and left by the roadside as a warning to others.

The ranting of the left has become so incomprehensible, so strident and so absurd that those of us who have to fight in this war have learned to tune out all but the most outrageous comments.  We have to or we’d go nuts.  The legitimate criticisms of the war get lost in the white noise of lunatic screeds.  Every false charge, fradulent claim or demented rant destroys the capability of the left to speak with authority or clarity.  When every sentence begins with a paranoid screed about evil neocons, what follows is dismissed as just another lie from the fringes.  The left has become the boy who cried “Wolfowitz.

Who is this guy?
