He’s Back! No not Scott Peterson, We Mean Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson announced that he has composed a song, tentatively titled “From the Bottom of My Heart,” about the Katrina disaster and he plans to record it as soon as he can find “top” performers who are willing to be associated with him.
Jackson, who wrote “We Are the World” with Lionel Ritchie in 1985 at the peak of his career, recruited more than three dozen rock and pop heavyweights including Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan and Stevie Wonder, for that charity single. This was well before the decade of “Jackson is a pedophile” so it is unsure exactly how the music industry will respond.
Jackson was reportedly moved my the images of the disaster especially of the plight of the young children. And given the immense exposure that other celebrities have been able to garner from jumping on the Katrina bandwagon (Celine Dion, Sean Penn, et. al.), Jackson probably figured why not me and he might still be a little bitter over the last time he tried to capitalize on a tradegy, the former one being the 9/11 attacks with the song he wrote that was never released.
A new single by Jackson would certainly help the efforts of various Jackson jurors to cash in on their fleeting fame. As details have come out on their gross ineptitude and overall juror misconduct, marketing their stories has been a tough sell–complicated no doubt by the fact that other than a desire to see the should-be-Megan’s-Law-registrant face justice, not too many people really care about the one-time King of Pop.
As we did with Celine, we have no trouble looking past Mr. Jackson’s motivations and history if the end result is a project that generates additional relief money for Katrina’s survivors. With that in mind, Independent Sources wishes Mr. Jackson all of the luck in the world. Just don’t go too weird on us as even we have our limits.
