Weekend Edition: Do Not, I Repeat, Do Not Call 911 While Smoking Pot

In a dopey moment, stuff.co.nz says

a New Zealand woman showed police there’s truth in the old saying “where there’s smoke there’s fire”.

The woman was to appear in court today after police called at her home.

Sergeant Andy Thomson said the 42-year-old had dialled 111 (NZ version of 911) for emergency help on Saturday but had then thought better of it. She had hung up, relaxed and lit a marijuana joint.

She was disturbed soon after by a knock at the door. Alerted by the abandoned call for help, police had gone to check what was going on.

Mr Thomson said the woman would appear in court charged with smoking and possessing cannabis and possessing instruments to smoke cannabis. The woman had said she wanted to finish smoking her stash before they came.

… Police found no evidence of an emergency at the house.

Note: Even though we did not find this story at Mark in Mexico, Independent Sources would like to give a shout out to him because we did find one of our most popular posts ever on his site:“Do not, I repeat, do not piss off this woman”.
