Shamanism: What They Don’t Teach You at the Harvard Business School

You won’t see this in the “One Minute Manager” or “Who Moved My Cheese,” but employees whose consciousness are “too low” should be fired. At least this is allegedly the practice of Carlos Santana and wife toward their employees.

According to a wrongful termination lawsuit filed against the rocker,  a “Dr. Dan” was brought in so employees could grow closer to God and become better workers.

“The higher a person calibrated with Dr. Dan, the better employee they were because they were more ’spiritually evolved.’ ”

This story is so bizarre that it is a natural for Independent Sources and we’ll leave out the snarky comments that we usually interject in wrongful termination lawsuits and let this one speak for itself. Better yet, we’ll let others do it for us (see below).

With album titles like “Shaman,” “Supernatrual,” “Between Good and Evil,” and “Black Magic Woman,” maybe we should have all seen this one coming.

Other witty blogs on this story:

  • Errant Fool How exactly does Dr. Dan go about calibrating someone? What does he do, show tie-die patterns from Santana concert t-shirts and analyse what the employees think they mean?
  • Espella Humanzee Sigh… and we should listen to these media social misfits? (ed .note: We assume they are referring to Santana and not Independent Sources)
  • You vs. The World  Santana’s wife is stupid. She is SOOOO stupid!
  • Babalublog  No word as to whether Diddy’s name change came after spiritual calibration….
  • Rosenblog While generally I’m quite skeptical of bias claims and allegations of victimization, this “Dr. Dan” shtik doesn’t smell so great.

Okay, where’s my googly eyed icon - it’s just moronic and where do they get off bringing religion into the workplace anyhow? What I didn’t get from this article is what did the guy do as an employee of Santanas as personal assistant to need to be more religiously calibrated? Mark this one under too ridiculous to comment further on.

You are right, there is no reason to have brought “religion” into the workplace, especially one that depends on a “Dr. Dan” to “calibrate” you. Sorry for all of the quotation marks but I want to distinguish between the terms they use and what I consider reality.

Now if this is the sort of thing going on why didn’t the employee just quit and go to a better environment? This is why I dislike these types of lawsuits.

I don’t think there are any simpathetic parties in this story, just pathetic.

Totally, maybe the guy just was hoping he’d pass the “test”, lol. It takes all kinds, I guess.
