Independent Sources Would Rather Dan Worked for Us
Independent Sources reported today that it has offered soon-to-be-ex-CBS News anchor Dan Rather a job working for the up-and-coming right-minded blog. While the specific duties being offered to Mr. Rather are unclear, they are likely to be similar to those previously offered to Richard Scrushy but which to date they have been unable to come to terms.
The job offer reportedly includes both a moving allowance and generous upside. The moving allowance would compensate Mr. Rather for the relocation to California where Independent Sources is located and away from the “East Coast Liberal Elite” that has clouded his judgment on so many stories.
As for upside, Mr. Rather would reportedly be entitled to a cut of Google ad click-throughs on his postings (look around the Independent Sources site for these little gems). “We believe in paying for performance,” stated Independent Sources Senior Administration Official.
What would happen if Rather put his liberal leaning tendencies ahead of journalistic ethics to push through a hack-job like the story that spawned Rathergate? “We’d fire his ass all of the way back to Tejas,” stated Independent Sources Insider in an exaggerated fake Texan drawl mimicking Mr. Rather’s own homespun intonation.
