Weekend Edition: Is Saturday Night Live Anti-French?
The French are accused of being a lot of things..arrogant, odorous, backstabbing, and so forth. But paranoid? That’s a new one. After our last French posting, we were directed to a website that is focused on attacking anti-French opinions in the United States…and they are surprisingly serious. Their site even has a diagram showing the history of anti-French attitudes in the U.S. which they distill down to seven comedians/producers with #1 on their list being SNL creator Lorne Michaels.
Even more paranoid, the majority of the people on the list (including those on SNL) we are told are associated with NBC, which the French-loving site reminds us is in turn owned by GE—described by them as “one of the biggest, nastiest defense contractors on the planet.” Talk about a conspiracy theory!
Now, we had always thought of GE as the folks who were “Bringing Good Things To Life”. Now it turns out we have something else to thank them for.
If there are really French people who believe that the anti-French attitudes in the United States are the result of an military industrial complex conspiracy perpetuated via SNL comedians, well that is just too funny for words.

I have noticed that NBC Entertainment programs go out of their way to present immigrants in the most favorable way the writers can come up with. Considering that the Law and Order varations deal with stories “Ripped From the Headlines” you would think that crimmigrants would be dealt with in a more realistic manner so that the tens of millions of American’s who watch these shows would be more aware of the possible crimes these groups can commit.
