London Blasts

Additonal details coming out on the terrorist attack in London (coverage London Times). Here is the latest:

  • The blasts appear to have be coordinated in a manner similar to those used by al-Qaeda in previous attacks.
  • It does not appear that there were any warnings given for the attack. The intent was to kill as many people as possible.
  • The attack coincided with the opening of the G8 summit in Scotland.

The unverified claim, made on the al-Qal’ah – or Fortress – internet site, was posted by a group calling themselves the Secret Organisation Group of al-Qa’ida of Jihad Organisation in Europe. The message, posted this morning, said:

“The heroic mujahidin have carried out a blessed raid in London. “Britain is now burning with fear, terror and panic in its northern, southern, eastern, and western quarters.”

More information tip: Some of the best blog coverage will be at The Jawa Report.

Update: BBC America is carrying the main UK BBC feed, which is much better than the US all-news channels, which seem to be focusing on what might happen here in the States rather than the events in London.

Update: Calblog has pointed us to some London bloggers covering the events: Dodgeblogium,Tom Worstall, About This Boy.
