Condemnation Trickling In From Muslims Around the World
As one would hope, many Muslim religious and political leaders have wasted no time in condemning the attacks. A few samplings from around the world:
From Aljazeera.com:
Muslim leaders condemn bloody attacks on London
Sir Iqbal Sacranie of the Muslim Council of Britain condemned the attacks.
“We are simply appalled and want to express our deepest condolences to the families.
“These terrorists, these evil people want to demoralize us as a nation and divide us.
“All of must unite in helping the police to hunt these murderers down.”
“There may well be elements who want to exploit this tragedy and incite hatred”.
From the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting’s Online Service:
Iran strongly condemns London blasts
Tehran, July 7 - The spokesman of Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned on Thursday London’s terrorist blasts that killed and wounded dozens of British citizens.
Hamid-Reza Assefi expressed his sympathy with the families of the victims of this terrorist act and termed restoring to violence for reaching goals as an indecent way.
From Khaleej Times Online (UAE)
UAE condemns explosions in London
ABU DHABI - The UAE denounced today the heinous criminal and terrorist attacks, which took place in some parts of London this morning.
Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs said, “The UAE condemns in the strongest possible terms these horrific crimes, expresses its full support for the British government and all measures it may take to deal with these crimes and offers sincere condolences to the British government, people and families of the victims.
“The UAE also expressed its sympathy for those injured in these criminal acts and to their families,” he added.
Of course these are just a sampling and the majority of the Arab world’s online news services that I reviewed hadn’t yet updated their sites to either cover the story or didn’t have anything more than the wire reports.
