Conservative Meanies Boycotted Again

Which of the following was a real story this week?

Georgia’s new chief justice, a conservative, stirs up religious activists by sharing the stage with a liberal from the U.S. Supreme Court.

or

Georgia’s new chief justice, a liberal, stirs up civil rights activists by sharing the stage with a conservative from the U.S. Supreme Court.

No surprise — the latter is true. People actually refused to attend the swearing in of the new Georgia chief justice because Clarence Thomas was going to be at the ceremony.
Open minded people might relish the opportunity to engage the enemy — especially if they thought they had facts and reason on their side. But they can’t fight on that ground, so they don’t even try.

(for another ridiculous example of the left’s blocking all but ideologically pure speech, see here, where a threatened boycott forced left-leaning author Richard Rodriguez to recuse himself from speaking at a college commencement because he wasn’t left enough).
