Liberals: Only Heterosexual White Males May Choose Political Affiliation

From Gay Patriot:

A gay Republican said … that he had been attacked far more by gays because he was Republican, than he was ever attacked by Republicans because he was gay.”

Ironic, but not rare. I’ve read similar comments from blacks, Hispanics, and any number of other groups who the Left expects expects to be part of their coalition. If I didn’t know any better I’d say that liberals don’t believe in freedom of political choice for any one other than white males.

Well, for starters, being gay is not something that people choose in order to fit into the political structure of the world. It is a condition prior to political orientation, and in 2005 even Republicans are aware of that fact. Also, a party chock full of self-loathing homosexuals who denounce gays in public while secretly engaging in the very behaviour they decry in others has little room to “attack” gay Republicans.

On the other hand, what kind of conference presence did gay Republican groups get at the last several national conventions? Gay Republicans should at least be honest about their marginalized status.

The Democratic party also marginalizes gay politics, but sometimes seems to exhibit a knee-jerk “tolerant” attitude toward the subject. Many Democratic politicos are opposed to gay marriage, for instance (as they should be, since this isn’t the time for it and a minority of Americans support it), and many moderate Democrats are uncomfortable with the unquestioning acceptance of gay politics.

But of course I totally believe gaypatriot when he says that more gays have attacked him because of his involvement with an anti-gay party than Republicans have attacked him for being who he actually is. It makes sense, you know, that people’s mistakes should be criticized, while their God-given identity isn’t.
