Villaraigosa Takes Aim at Hahn Supporter(s)

Los Angeles Mayor-elect Antonio Villaraigosa should know the saying that revenge is a dish that is best served cold. However, he is not wasting time going after individuals and businesses that dared to contribute the the Hahn campaign.

The Los Angeles Times reported today that Villaraigosa has asked the Harbor Commission to delay votes on approving a contract with Westrec Cabrillo, whose owner, Michael Sachs, contributed to Hahn’s campaign. Bad move Michael and evidently neither you or your employees who also donated to the Hahn campaign read our coverage of Villaraigosa’s Florida donations and the benefits that such contributions can bring. If you had, you would have done a better job of hedging your bets especially given the fact that Antonio is now armed with a February report indicating that your deal with the city is under their desired rate of return. Well, as they say, it’s payback time.

    Insider Says:

I just found this on from an earlier LA Times story during the election prvoing the point about hedging:

“Some donations to the two candidates seem to have no philosophical foundation. Take, for example, the recent donations of HMS Host, the Maryland company that sold $68 million in food and beverages last year to travelers at LAX. HMS Host and a few of its executives from suburban Washington, D.C., sent $5,000 to Hahn’s campaign on April 20. The company and some executives sent an identical amount to Villaraigosa’s campaign two days later.”

Now HMS Host is showing themselves to be savvy.
