Jim Lampley: “No Way Hillary Will Win 2008 Presidential Election”

Noted brilliant policy wonk, Jim Lampley, believes that Hillary Clinton does not have a chance in the 2008 Presidential Election.

How do we have such insight into what is going on inside Mr. Lampley’s head?

If you look at Mr. Lampley’s much ridiculed posting in the Huffington Post, Lampley puts tremendous weight in the ability in bookmakers to predict the outcomes of elections. In fact, Mr. Lampley believes that the only time that bookmakers are wrong on elections is when ballot boxes have been stuffed or other political malfeasance. In Lampley’s own words:

People who have lived in the sports world as I [Lampley] have, bettors in particular, have a feel for what I am about to say about this: these people are extremely scientific in their assessments. These people understand which information to trust and which indicators to consult in determining where to place a dividing line to influence bets, and they are not in the business of being completely wrong.

Continuing on Mr. Lampley’s logic, if we want to know who is going to win in the 2008 presidential election then all we have to do is see what odds the bookmakers are laying.

Based on the odds at Sports Interaction, an offshore betting site, Hillary is going to get creamed (she has just a 1 in 5 chance of winning). Per Mr. Lampley, you can take that to the bank.

duh, Hillary while very popular with the base has no way to expand her appeal, she is to much of a known commodity. Noteriety is a two edged sword.
