Weekend Edition: Liberals Prefer Caribbean Music over John Kerry
It has been a year since the liberal Air America Radio went on the air. If you listened to the hype you would think that it is doing well. Think again, it’s not.
Take for example the network’s flagship station in liberal New York City (WLIB) where Air America has actually lost ratings since it switched from its all-Caribbean music format and dropped all of the way to 24th in the Arbitron ratings. Instead of hearing discussion about Democratic issues or Howard Dean’s plans for the party, New York’s liberals would evidently rather listen to Calypso and Steel Drum.
And before you blame talk radio in general as the listening grounds for uneducated dolts, you should note that talk radio listeners tend to be more college educated and read more magazines and newspapers than the average American. No, in this case the blame needs to lie squarely with Air America. If you can’t beat out the Twilight Circus Dub Sound System in one of America’s most liberal cities then how do you think you’ll survive anywhere else?

Air America radio should consider mixing in a little Caribbean with the talk.. sometimes you have to spoon feed it to people to get your message across.
