Citizens Against Government Waste Names Porker of the Month
And the “Porker of the Month” goes to…Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii).
Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) has named Senator DanielInouye (D-Hawaii) Porker of the Month for adding $40 million in porkto the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Act for Defense, the Global War on Terror, and Tsunami Relief (H.R. 1268).
Among the bacon the senator is sending home at the expense of taxpayers, homeland security, and the well-being of our troops are $10 million for a library and $3 million for a tropical agriculture research program. This for a state already swimming in pork: In fiscal 2005, Hawaii raked in a total of $454 per person in pork-barrel spending, third highest in the country. For exploiting federal funds to further local interests at the expense of national security, our military, and humanitarian relief, Sen. Daniel Inouye receives this high honor.
