No Tears for Johnny Cochran

Johnny Cochran played to the lowest common denominator and is aptly best known for his base use of the “race card” in the OJ Simpson trial. His crowning moment was keeping a double murderer on the street. By many accounts, OJ was ready to confess (and reportedly had already done to Rev. Rosie Greer) and OJ’s early lawyers were figuring out a strategy to keep him off death row. Mr. Cochran thought he might just get the Juice off by presenting a story to the 12 jurors that 20 or 25 LAPD detectives, lab technicians, and patrol officers had worked together to frame Mr. Simpson. The fact that OJ had motive, no alibi, and had previously beat his wife (one of the victims) were but minor inconveniences to Mr. Cochran. The OJ jury was either the dumbest group of people on this earth or they simply wanted to send a message. Either way, a double-murderer stayed free, our legal system became an international embarrassment, and Mr. Cochrane got the fame that he so wanted fueling his personal injury law firm into a national behemoth.
