Bastions of efficiency (one of a series)

This blog will doubtless pen some cranky invective about the Post Office the next time we have to stand in line to mail a box. But while we’re gathering our thoughts, take a look at Andy Kessler’s rant in Wired — he’s on top of it. The real question is — is it political suicide to attempt to privatize and (presumably) streamline an organization with 700,000 potential voters? With no real constituency for efficiency, isn’t it likely that 75 years from now there will still be 700,000 postal workers delivering a few pieces of junk mail to every household in the country?
