Parents of University of Colorado at Boulder students must have coughed up breakfast when they opened their morning papers and read what is being taught to their sons/daughters and by whom. Professor Ward L. Churchill has published a paper comparing the people killed in the 9/11 attacks to the Nazi who helped plan the Holocaust. In Churchill’s essay titled “Some People Push Back: On the Justice of Roosting Chickens,” Churchill called the workers killed in the WTC “little Eichmanns” after the Nazi Adolf Eichmann who helped mastermind the murder of European Jews during WWII. Churchill said that trade center employees were “technocrats of empire” working for the “engines of profit” and as such were inevitable targets.

Let’s analyze this situation.

First, this isn’t just some clown with an unread blog (present company excepted). Instead, he is a salaried employee of a taxpayer subsidized institution who is in a position of immense power and influence over impressionable minds. (Granted if you signed up for his Ethnic Studies class it probably means that you are already pretty far off the track of preparing the real world post college but that’s another story). Students naturally look up to their professors and their opinions can carry great weight. I can just imagine the conversations at the dinner table when mommy and daddy ask Junior what’s he’s learning in college. “Well, Dad, you know those people in New York, they’re kind of like that Nazi guy…”. It’s enough to make you throw up.

Second, let’s look at what he said. Basically, it’s okay for people to be slaughtered because of the fact that they happened to work for companies that intend to make profits. I guess that means unless you live in the workers’ paradises of North Korea or Belarus, you’re fair game for incineration by Islamic fanactics.

Third, when given the chance to backpedal from the insensitivity and immorality of his ramblings, he responded only by saying that the children, janitors, food service workers, and fire fighters were not “little Eichmanns,” so it was unfortunate that they had been murdered. The rest however remain on his Final Solution list. Not really what you’d call a sincere apology.

Here’s our Final Solution to this jerk. Thank him for making it easy to fire him and replace him with someone that might actually help his students prepare for the real world. Finally, what is it with the University of Colorado? Wasn’t this the same institution that had the sex parties for football recruits?
